Pets

We welcome your family dogs to Ivy Farmhouse, however, please do not leave them unattended in the house at any time and keep them off the furniture. Please also keep them downstairs. Please keep the garden clear of dog poo, especially when vacating the property at the end of your stay. There is a doggy poo bin in the park to the left of the entry point at the end of the gravel path. There are plenty of dog friendly walks around the village, the beach immediately in front of the village has restrictions on dogs from April until October, otherwise you are free to let the dogs run on the beach outside the confines of the village. The route east past the lifeboat station has the quickest access to the beach where the dogs are free to run off the lead. The house has a fully enclosed back garden.

The Brown (Garden Waste) bin is emptied on a fortnightly basis, please could guests place the brown bin in view of the road for the driver to see. The Brown bin is collected on a Friday fortnightly.

The Kitchen

Heating and hot water

The hot water and heating systems are by gas and the controls are in the cupboard beside the Aga to the left. The heating thermostat is wireless and currently sits in the stairwell landing upstairs which is the coolest part of the house. It is set to provide a comfortable temperature around the house throughout the day however if more heat is needed then just gently press the side of the thermostat against the + symbol to turn the heating up or the – sign to turn it down. It is a smart thermostat which allows it to turn the heating on and off throughout the day and night to maintain a comfortable temperature. The manual change lasts for 2 hours when it reverts to the default setting. The setting on the control panel for heating must be left on constant, hot water Auto.   The hot water comes on in the morning and evening and there should be adequate hot water to ensure hot showers etc., if more hot water is needed then a short boost mode is available on the control panel. Please do not change the control panel settings.  In the event of the boiler failing to heat the water an immersion heater is available with a switch in the boiler cupboard in the middle bedroom.

The Aga

The AGA is available for use if required, or a more conventional electric oven and hob is part of the appliance to the left of the hot plates.  If you choose to use the Aga, please be aware that it is very hot and therefore use is at your own risk. Children must be made aware of the risk of injury.  There is a kettle designed for use on the hot plates. Please use the trivets either side of the appliance and the electric hob has a large trivet protecting the surface for all hot pans etc. when using the AGA.  There are pots and pans designed to be used on the AGA please use those items.  The hot plate covers can get quite tarnished with food, to help us with cleaning please can you wipe the inside of the lids after to use to avoid burnt on stains which are difficult to remove.

The Fridge

Fridge freezer is not plumbed in but will provide chilled drinking water and ice. The tank holding the fresh water inside the fridge needs to be topped up occasionally and the ice making mode selected on the panel on the front of the fridge.  It is suggested to flush the system through with a couple of glasses of water on first use.
